Questions and Answers
Do you recommend any particular type of diet for people taking the program?
We work with people on an individual basis and construct a general diet which is consistent with their nutritional needs. However, there are dietary principles that are applicable across the board. What we recommend is that people eat sensibly, that their diet be balanced and natural. Too much concern over eating and dieting can become a problem. A good diet would include a variety of whole, natural foods; a poor diet would include foods which have been overly processed or denatured. In general, most people need to cut down on (or in some cases eliminate) wheat, soy, corn, sugar, and processed dairy products. (Small amounts of non-GMO, fermented soy products, such as tempeh and tofu, are OK). Hydrogenated oil, artificial sweeteners (such as aspartame), and tap water (containing chlorine and/or fluorine) should always be avoided. Good digestion, good eating habits (such as chewing food really well), and sufficient water intake, are also very important. If one's digestion is low, taking a form of liquid HCL would be needed. A high quality multi-vitamin can be helpful for most people. Supplements such as molasses, bee pollen, colloidal minerals, and "green-drinks" can be helpful, especially if one is not getting high-quality nutrients from his or her diet. I have been recommending a special flax-protein shake which is easy to make, great-tasting, and which has far-reaching health benefits. .
Could you talk a little more about the benefits of natural sunlight?
Regular exposure to sunlight is important and beneficial. Exposure to sunlight stimulates the endocrine system, regulates the pineal gland, adds electron-rich energy to the body, and assists the body in the production of vitamin D. It also brings about a greater sense of well-being (whereas a lack of sunlight can be depressing).
We all know that sunlight is needed for the production of vitamin D, but most people don’t know that the body is able to receive electron-rich energy directly from the sun, like an antenna, when the body is attuned to the electron frequency of the sun. A body which is attuned to sunlight can utilize sunlight and recharge itself at the cellular level. So, attuning the body to the vibration of sunlight (and receiving direct sunlight each day) is important for optimal and "super-charged" health.
The sun is the source of all life on this planet, and if we want to be the bearers of life, if we want to bring new life into this world, than attuning to the natural rhythm of the sun, and its life-giving vibration, is vitally important. Our ancestors were outside most of the day and their lives were governed by the natural cycles of the sun; our bodies have developed, over millions of years, in accord with the greater cycles of nature. Most people, now living under artificial light (and lacking exposure to direct sunlight) are out of sync with this daily rhythm. The best way to help restore this rhythmic and energetic connection to the sun is to get natural sunlight on a regular basis.
If you can’t be outside all day (like our ancestors) then getting natural sunlight, through short periods of indirect sun gazing, at particular times of the day, is usually enough to stimulate the endocrine system and regulate the pineal gland.
Besides this attunement to the all of life, exposure to the sun is needed to produce vitamin D (specifically Vitamin D3). So, if you re not able to get direct sun exposure a few times a week, then supplementing with natural Vitamin D3 (5000iu - 8000 iu) per day is needed. One should completely avoid any artificial form of Vitamin D, such as the artificial Vitamin D2 which is often added to processed milk.
Living in artificial light without going outside into natural sunlight regularly can have adverse consequences
on fertility. (Christiane Northrup)
You mentioned that too much exercise, and exercise to exhaustion, is problematic, especially for woman. Could you explain why?
Again, we only need to look at evolution, and how the human body has adapted to its environment over the course of a million years, to get an answer. When in the history of the human race did a woman ever have to exercise or run to the point of exhaustion? The only time was during a crisis, when she was under physical threat. So, unbeknownst to most people, excessive exercise (especially running) elicits a fear-based, survival response. Whenever this survival response is activated, every non-essential organ gets shut down so that the main energy of the body can be utilized for survival. You probably know that women who run long distance races, such as the marathon, often stop menstruating. Here the body is not only put into crisis mode but it must take nutrients away from the menstrual cycle to survive. (The same is often the case for women who are under severe emotional stress—they stop menstruating). Vigorous exercise, especially to the point of exhaustion, does not usually shut down the menstrual cycle, but it does, to the subconscious mind, signal danger or some type of physical threat. And in light of this perceived threat the body puts fertility on hold. Very vigorous exercise, done a few times a week, can put reproduction on permanent hold; fertility potential will quickly return when the physical stress is relieved.
For optimal health we need to keep the two sides of our autonomic nervous system in balance. Strenuous and high aerobic exercise stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, which is OK if you are not para-sympathetic dominant but no helpful if you are sympathetic dominant.
Regular exercise, which never approaches strain or exhaustion, but which includes light aerobic exercise, is good because it helps move the lymph and increase oxygen intake. Walking is good but more short amounts of aerobic exercising, like bike-riding or badminton, may also be quite beneficial. Shallow breathing, which is chronic in this stress-ridden society (and exacerbated by tight-fitting pants or leaning over toward a computer screen all day) is a habit we should seek to break. Deep-breathing is a very good way to increase our intake of oxygen and life-energy.
How late can a woman have a healthy child? I heard that waiting until middle-age is problematic due to an increased chance that the baby will have health problems.
As long as woman is menstruating she is capable of having a healthy child. I knows this goes against common concepts but not against the body. It seems that the health of a child is less affected by the chronological age of the mother and more by the amount of accumulated toxins, especially metal toxins, in the system. Metal toxins are cumulative, and the body has no way to remove these toxins without specific procedures. This means that (given the same exposure) a woman of 40 years will have twice as many metal toxins in her system than a woman of 20. Thus, conditions will be twice as problematic. So, whatever be the age of the woman, it may be that the crucial factor is not chronological age, but the body’s toxicity levels. So, cleansing these toxins becomes vitally important to having a healthy child, especially at a later age.
Of course, the overall health of the woman is very important. Any practice that increases a woman's overall health, and lowers her biological age, is valuable---even more so for older woman. Most of the practices used in this program are designed to help rid the body of toxins, increase one's overall health and well-being, and lower one's biological age.
Much of the program seems to address “unknown” causes of decreased fertility, where a couple is generally healthy (by medical standards) but cannot get pregnant. What about when there are known causes, such as in the case of endometriosis or low sperm count?
These have to be handled with special considerations and would not be part of the regular program. Couples faced with particular problems would have to work on resolving those problems through special means. For instance, endometriosis (or fallopian tube obstructions) would have to be handled by natural and unorthodox methods, which might include aggressive cleansing, heat treatments, and mega-doses of specialized proteolytic enzymes. Low sperm count can usually be remedied by following the protocols offered in the program. Zero sperm count, however, is another matter. One Ayurvedic doctor I worked with handled this issue with a few patients. He said it took about two years to bring the sperm count from zero to normal. So, particular problems would have to resolved by specialized means before a person could truly benefit from the program. Being able to employ the power of your own mind is especially beneficial in all these cases.
A woman's body has a deeper rhythmic connection to nature; it is more adaptable to environmental changes than a man's. As such, immediate environmental factors can adversely effect a woman's reproductive health; and, likewise, when these adverse conditions are removed, the body's "fertility potential" is quickly restored. So, most of the fertility methods we employ are geared toward restoring the balance and equilibrium of the woman's body. The male body is different; it has to be in a state of "fertility potential" all the time. So, in the case of low sperm count, there is rarely any kind of quick-fix solution. All systems of the male body must be slowly restored. According to Ayurveda, the semen (or "essence of man") is the end result of seven "distillation" or refinement processes. For instance, the essential elements of the plasma are sued to produce the blood; the essential elements of the blood are used to make muscle, fat, and bone; the essential elements of muscle, fat, and bone are used to make marrow and nerve tissue; the essential elements of marrow and nerve tissue are used to make sperm and semen. If any of this precursor materials are lacking, then the sperm (which is the quintessential product) will also be lacking. So, to restore sperm count and reproductive health for a man the primary strategy is restore the power and functioning of every precursor system and the overall health of the body. This is not an especially difficult process, but it is a process that takes months or sometimes years.
This program is generally for people in good health who, for reasons unknown to them, are just not able to get pregnant. People in poor health can also take the program but they would have to do a little extra work to get things in balance.
Does the program focus on each individual or the couple as a whole?
Both. Sometimes the “unknown” cause has nothing to do with the health of the individual but may come about due to a physical, emotional, or spiritual discordance within the relationship. This discordance or imbalance could be remedied, in part, through the protocols of the program. Some cases, however, might require additional work, such as specialized body-balancing methods or psychological counseling.
Besides the use of standard psychological procedures—used to bring the body and mind into harmony—you mentioned another method called, “Emotive Memory Processing.” Could you explain what this is and how it is different from psychological counseling?
Well, it is not counseling. It is a simple method of releasing the negative emotional charge which is attached to (or keyed into) past traumatic events, by becoming more and more conscious of the event—and actually re-living the event—through imaginative recall. This involves work with a facilitator who helps you with your own recall, but nothing more than that. In our program, we teach people this method and they can use it on each other. We would not have couples work on each other but have two couples meet with the men from each couple working with each other and the women working with each other.
This process does not block one’s memory of an event but releases the negative emotional charge which is encoded in the memory of the event. This process can be seen as a systematic clearing of the negative emotional body (whose darkness, or anti-life vibration, not only uses up one’s vital life-energy, but blocks the entry and expression of the life-force in oneself.) When the emotional body is clear, and not “polluted” by the fallout from negative emotions, it brings about a greater influx of life-energy and an opening of the heart—and this allows the individual to embody more and more of the positive qualities of Spirit, such as love, joy, and aliveness. And it is this very aliveness which allows a human being to create another life, through his or her own life. It is this aliveness we can never have too much of. And so, any process which affords us a greater degree of aliveness and joy would be beneficial to our own experience of life and to our ability to engender life.

Could you tell us something about your background and how you became interested in fertility?
My initial interest was in cancer research. I counseled people from all over the world and my success rate is too high to list publicly. I also wrote a book on cancer and specifically on how a person could become cancer-free through natural means. I actually learned about ways to treat infertility through researching cancer and other degenerative diseases.
Apart from natural medicine, my primary interest lies in the mind-based, spirit-based dimension of health and healing. No matter what natural approaches are used, if a person is using his or her creative power in a self-defeating way (or has the wrong attitude) it can nullify all the beneficial effects of a sound, natural treatment. Likewise, if one’s creative power is well-directed, and aligned with the greater movement of Life, then a person can become pregnant (or overcome degenerative diseases) with a minimal of physical intervention. My feeling is that having “right knowledge,” and being able to put that knowledge into effect, is something very spiritual. So, even if a person is completely out of touch with his or her spiritual nature, and has no interest in meditation, they can still be successful if they have the right kind of knowledge and are able to positively apply it.
I have a degree in psychology from Harvard, but most of what I learned in that field came in the way of “yogic psychology” and various psychological disciplines which I studied outside of the mainstream. I have been involved with meditation and spiritual practice for over 30 years, living in ashrams and studying with various meditation masters. In terms of utilizing “the creative power of mind” I have studied the field for years and am now completing two books on the subject.
All said, my knowledge and background are somewhat irrelevant—the only thing relevant is your success, is that you have a child, a healthy child. I could be a voodoo witch doctor for all that mattered. I am quite certain that this program can help you get pregnant and have a healthy child. We wanted to offer a money-back guarantee for the program: if a couple did not get pregnant, and have a child, we would refund their money. However, it appears that most couples want to do a lot of different things, and so there would be no real way to determine if their participation in this program was responsible for their getting pregnant—especially since there might be a delay between taking the program and getting pregnant. So, we decided to keep things simple and charge a nominal fee. Once we become established, and people are committed to following our program, we may go back to the original model of giving couples a full refund if they don't get pregnant within a certain time frame.
In many cases people fall short, not because of the protocol, but because they are not able to follow the protocol or because they simply don't believe it will work. (And it they don't believe it will work they are less committed to following it). So, most of the time, it is more difficult to cure the patient than the ailment. That's why the mental and spiritual dimensions of healing are so important; that's why your attitude, and what you bring to the table, is the prime factor in your own success.
Why are you putting on a workshop as opposed to just counseling couples individually or writing a book on the subject?
To make things easier, we are now offering a single afternoon session for couples or individuals. My initial idea was to offer this program in the context of a supportive group, since I feel this context would be more effective, however, some couples are not able to participate in this kind of program, and so we put together and afternoon program, This single-session program, along with additional support in the weeks and months to follow, would likely be as effective as participation in a group program.
Working with a group is often preferred because this involves an energetic exchange and a positive connection between people. One problem with fertility is a sense of isolation, feeling cut off; and there is nothing more depressing than sitting alone in your room, with a looming sense of failure, or desperation, reading a book on how to become pregnant--and then trying, without support, to put all this information into practice. Information is necessary but being part of a vortex of positive energy is often crucial to one’s success. When everyone has positive intentions for each other, things are a lot easier and more effective. The energetic exchange that takes place in the program is central to one's journey and overall success--and this is something which cannot be gained from a book. In addition, many people need support from others in order to follow through on the protocols and feel as though they are part of something.
The action of Life itself is always expansive, always seeking to include and express more and more of life itself. In a group, we begin to shift the nexus of our identity from “me” to “we”—and the “we” is more powerful, more life-engendering, than “me.”
One thing more about this notion of “we” as opposed to “me”: women, through their physiological and emotional make-up, are more inclined to “we” than men.“We” is more inclusive and life-giving. This “we” is needed to bring another life into this world. If we look to evolution, and trace natural development over the past million years, we see that women never had to act like men—yet this is the emotional valence that many women assume in the corporate world today. It is great that women are somewhat equal to men in terms of work and financial opportunity, but they must retain their feminine power while moving up the corporate ladder. In order to be successful in business, women often feel the need to incline toward a male role, assume a position of physical power (in terms of giving orders and being in control), and shut down their emotions (so others won’t get the better of them). They may even approach the whole notion of pregnancy as some kind of business, as something which must get done. Thus woman involved in the business world may be too deeply identified with this male role and this male way of doing things, and simple not able to "let go." This would constitute an unnatural shift from the life-giving “we” (which is predominant in a woman) to the survival-based “me” (which is predominant in a man).
When in the history of human evolution were women in this position? Having to act like men? Never. The only time a woman would have to assume control, and take over the man’s role--and be involved in stressful, survival-based situations--would be during a time of crisis. And, in every crisis situation, where one’s survival is at stake (or believed to be at stake) the non-vital functions of the body shut down. Thus, during a period when a female has to assume a male role (and be involved in stressful situations) the body interprets this as some kind of threat, and temporarily shuts down the all non-vital and reproductive functions.
For a woman who has become displaced from her emotions, her female nature, and her life-giving power—and who has assumed a male approach to life—it becomes increasingly difficult to bring a new life into this world. This has nothing to do with what a woman consciously wants; this has to do with all the signals she is unwittingly giving to her subconscious mind. And, as we discussed elsewhere, the subconscious mind (representing our deep-seated beliefs) always wins out over the conscious mind. The only way for a woman to gain full access to her creative, life-giving power, then, is to align the deep-seated feelings of her subconscious mind with the desires or ideals of her conscious mind. She has to become whole; she has to be in harmony with herself and her feminine nature. This is not overly difficult, but it does require some conscious work and a shift in one's overall approach to life.
In the end, it’s not about following the program, or having the strength and will-power to make positive changes--it’s about living with joy and abundance. It's about being who you truly are. We want to get away from the attitude of “getting things done”; we don't want too many checklists. We want to become more and more open, more and more alive. We want to spread our wings and open ourselves to the ever-expanding abundance of Life. And then, as a natural expression of our unity with Life, we cannot help but create a child of luminous joy and wonder.
Other things to consider:
--- Vaginal secretions may be too thick, thereby blocking the sperms from swimming upstream, and mucus-dissolving supplements (as well as an anti-mucus diet) my be helpful. In this regards, take N-acetyl-cysteine.
--- Gluten sensitivity may create wide-spread inflammation and block pregnancy. Cut out all gluten (which includes all wheat products), as well as common allergens such as corn and soy.
--- Reducing systemic inflammation may be very helpful and perhaps crucial. Turmeric is especially good as well as baking soda and CBD oil.
--- Stevia, which is a very good sweetener, may also have a contraceptive effect.
--- Certain touch methods, including accupressure of the ear, may open up energy channels and be helpful.
