MIND APPROACH
A major component of the Integral Fertility Program relates to the "mind/body connection" (which is more accurately described as "the heart/body connection") and finding ways to align the mind (and heart) with the positive energy of life. If we want to state this simply we could say that positive thoughts and emotions positively affect the body, while negative thoughts and feelings have a negative affect. So, as a way to improve our health, well-being, and fertility potential, we want to align our thoughts and emotions with the positive, the beneficial, and with that which we truly want in life.
The mind/body connection also relates to understanding deep-seated fears and beliefs which subconsciously dictate and determine our actions (and the action-responses of the body). These subconscious beliefs and feelings have the power to undermine the creative hopes of a couple.
Negative emotions can result from parental conditioning (where the individual is unconsciously repeating negative emotional patterns and beliefs) or it can result from a maladjusted dynamic in one's primary relationship. (For instance, to avoid conflict, or as a way to defend oneself from being overwhelmed, one partner may get into a maladjusted pattern of emotional retreat or withdrawal. This closed, defensive position is problematic for a woman because the act of
conception involves a completely opposite dynamic--one of openness and receptivity).
Any stress, conflict, or emotional imbalance in a relationship can directly impact a woman’s ability to conceive. A couple may, on the surface, want to have a child, but this desire may be undermined by a host of unspoken emotional factors. Thus fully conscious communication is very important. For example, one partner may be highly committed to, and invested in, having a child while the other partner may feel unsure or lukewarm about it. There may also be conflicting emotions within the individuals. One partner may have a sense of “poverty consciousness” and feel that they cannot afford to have a baby. Another partner may be subconsciously rejecting pregnancy due to deep-seated fear-patterns carried over from childhood. Thus there may be deep division and ambiguity within one's psyche--the conscious part of the mind may want to have a baby while the subconscious part may be trying to avoid it. And, as a general rule, the deep-seated beliefs of the subconscious mind is what a person gets, not what he or she consciously wants. A sense of fear can quickly halt the body’s ability to get pregnant. A sense that a baby will have a negative impact on the relationship (and the partner’s full affection) can undermine pregnancy. A sense that having a baby will bring about a loss of freedom, or the constant thought that something might go wrong, can also act as an emotional contraceptive.
In this program we will explore various aspects of the mind/body and heart/body connection. Participants will gain insights into emotional conflicts (both internal and external) and come to clarity and alignment about their life and partnerships. In additional to psychological work, we will also explore a simply process called "Emotive Memory Processing" which helps a person systematically remove deep-seated blocks from the emotional body. Finally, we will explore ways to use the mind in a positive way, in a way which allows us to unite the mind and heart and enter into the position of true creative, life-giving power.
A most powerful way to access the life-giving power in oneself, is to come into conscious contact with the very source of that power, which is the Infinite Spirit of Life. The spiritual dimension of this program is discussed in the next section.
